Our multidisciplinary and real-world approach to education, research and entrepreneurship enables us to work closely with industry, governments and academia to address crucial and complex issues relevant to Asia and the world. Researchers in our faculties, research centres of excellence, corporate labs and more than 40 university-level research institutes focus on themes that include energy; environmental and urban sustainability; treatment and prevention of diseases; active ageing; advanced materials; risk management and resilience of financial systems; Asian studies; and Smart Nation capabilities such as artificial intelligence, data science, operations research and cybersecurity.
This year, NUS launches a new research initiative called NUS Energy Solutions Hub (NESH). NESH is a cross-disciplinary research platform designed to harness and amplify the collective strengths of NUS’ extensive energy research capabilities, aligning closely with Singapore's national energy strategies and the broader global sustainability objectives. NESH’s research priorities are structured to leverage the interdisciplinary expertise of NUS, fostering innovation and practical solutions that can lead to significant advancements in energy sustainability and resilience. These priorities include Sustainable and Resilient Multi-Energy Districts, Revitalising Tropics: Sustainable Redevelopment for Urban Resilience, Smart and Sustainable Computing, Data-Driven Energy Strategy and Policy, and Development of Clean and Sustainable Transportation.
