Prof Dr Martina Klärle will speak on "An Overview of Reliability and Quality Assurance Issues". Under her leadership, the SUN-AREA methodology for the detailed calculation of the solar power potential of a city down to the individual roofs has been developed and eventually transferred into a spin-off company. The SUN-AREA methodology has been implemented by more than 200 cities and municipalities worldwide.

Prof Klärle is Vice Dean of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geomatics at the University of Applied Sciences Frankfurt, Germany. She is Professor for Geoinformatics and Regional Management. Before that, she was Professor for Geomatics and Surveying at the University of Applied Science in Osnabrueck, Germany, and Assistant Professor for Urban Land Use Planning at the University of Applied Science in Wuerzburg, Germany. She holds a PhD in Natural Science from the University of Vechta, Germany, and has published more than 40 journal papers in the areas of GIS-based land use, land management and environmental planning.
