Mr James H Simpson has more than 15 years' experience managing energy information and commodity risk in both gas and power, and is widely-recognised as the most knowledgeable authority on natural gas flows and capacities in North America.
Mr Simpson, in his leadership role, is responsible for managing and growing Platts' global power business, which provides customers worldwide with news, pricing, and analytical services related to the natural gas, electricity, nuclear, coal and emissions markets. Concurrently, he serves as Vice President and General Manager of Bentek Energy, a division of Platts recognised for its leadership in energy markets fundamentals analysis. He was named head of Platts' power group in January 2012 and assumed leadership of Bentek Energy in November 2011. He brings to both roles deep expertise in the power industry.
Prior to joining Bentek Energy in 2004 as Managing Director of Analytics, he previously worked for Markwest and Xcel Energy where he managed both financial and physical risk for natural gas and related products. He began his career at Enron structured large transactions for both power and gas for the Enron North America and trading upper Midcontinent markets.
He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from Texas A&M University.
