PowerACE 2020: Supporting Innovation in Clean Energy from Budding Startups

As part of Asia Clean Energy Summit 2020, the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS) held the third edition of its PowerACE competition, aimed at helping clean energy startups scale their innovations in Southeast Asia.

A total of 60 applicants across 25 countries entered the competition, and two startups emerged as winners:

• Resync Technologies, a software company that provides an intelligent energy management platform for smart cities and systems with multiple energy sources. As the overall winner, Resync Technologies received $100,000 worth of support services provided by EcoLabs Centre of Innovation for Energy.
  Mr Emir Nurov, CEO and Co-Founder of Resync Technologies, said: “PowerACE is helping to bridge the gap between startups and corporations by giving an avenue to present cutting-edge technologies in the energy space. We are excited to be the winner of this year's competition and we are looking forward to scale our solution in Singapore and worldwide.”
• Birds Eye Energy Technologies, an innovation-based company that designed a two-in-one solar panel that generated electricity and hot water simultaneously. The runner-up startup received $13,000 worth of support services provided by the Private Financing Advisory Network.
  Mr Praneeth Pillarisetti, Founder of Birds Eye Energy Technologies, also expressed his gratitude: "It is great to be recognised for our efforts in making our world a greener place. We thank the PowerACE team and SEAS for this opportunity and believing in our potential.”

Mr Kavita Gandhi, Executive Director of SEAS, added: “Over the past three years, PowerACE competition supported by Enterprise Singapore has helped to accelerate the growth of local clean energy startups by providing a platform to showcase them to investors, large corporations, as well as R&D institutions in Singapore. This will contribute to the national ambition of net-zero emissions by 2050.”
