Development of SPERA HydrogenTM, Chiyoda’s proprietary technology for the safe and efficient storage and transportation of hydrogen on a commercial scale, using an ‘in-house’ developed dehydrogenation catalyst to extract hydrogen from methylcyclohexane (MCH) as the liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC), commenced in 2002 and is now in commercialization.

Chiyoda and associate members successfully completed the world’s first global hydrogen supply chain demonstration project between Brunei Darussalam and Japan in 2020, utilizing our MCH-LOHC technology and subsidized by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

Consolidating this success, Chiyoda also signed an MOU with five Singaporean companies to collaborate on the development of a hydrogen supply chain into Singapore, supporting the Singapore’s governments Long-Term Low Emissions Development Strategy and the city-state’s energy transition.

Chiyoda will continue contributing to a sustainable global environment by promoting future commercial-scale hydrogen supply chains utilizing our MCH-LOHC technology.
