Dr Srinivasan Ramachandran at JOil is responsible for driving the research and development of Jatropha biofuel seedlings. He is also involved in other biotechnology research areas such as the development sweet sorghum feedstock for bioethanol production.
Besides his position in JOil, Dr Ramachandran leads the research team at the Rice Functional Genomics at the Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory, Singapore since 2002. He has also led rice research at the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology (IGDB), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing from 2003 to 2008.
Dr Ramachandran is also involved in other biotechnology research areas such as the development sweet sorghum feedstock for bioethanol production where he has headed the sweet sorghum research group at the Center for Bioenergy Plants, Institute of Botany, CAS in Beijing, China since 2007.
He is a member of the Genetic Modification Advisory Committee (GMAC) of Singapore, Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology and the Institute of Molecular Agrobiology, Singapore.
