The objective of the forum is to promote international cooperation of low-carbon model towns’ project, and showcase the achievement of China in the field of low carbon. It also aims to explore how to introduce the advanced development concept, technology, capital and patterns of towns through domestic and international cooperation with the current situation of the co-existing opportunities and challenges, and to establish the joint development mechanism among government, enterprises, research institutions and industry associations. Meanwhile, we need to further improve the working mechanism of a new Alliance titled as Low Carbon Town and International Cooperative Promotion, recently established for the promotion of LCMTs. We will also highlight the discussions on the organization structure, functions, funding and other aspects to progress the establishment of the APC Sustainable Energy Center.
Leveraging on the theme of SIEW 2013, the discussions at this roundtable will also explore how to change the extensive energy-using patterns of towns, control their energy consumption, optimize the energy structure, and promote the construction and implementation of energy infrastructure and the coordinated development of towns in the development process of low-carbon towns. Additionally, there will be discussions on how to solve the problems concerned with resources, energy, environment, ecology and so on generated in the process of urbanization. The Forum will make contributions to achieve the multiple benefits of sustainable development, and to meet the overall requirements of the 18th National Congress of CPC on making efforts to promote the construction of “Ecological Civilization”.
