About Izumi Kai, Managing Executive Officer, CEO of JERA Asia, and Head of Platform Business Division, JERA Co.

Izumi Kai is Managing Executive Officer, CEO of JERA Asia in Singapore and the Head of the Platform Business Division at JERA Co. Mr. Kai also serves as a member of the Board of Directors at Aboitiz Power in the Philippines and Summit Power International in Singapore.

Since joining Tokyo-based global energy company JERA Co. in 2016, Mr. Kai has played a pivotal role in the development of a number of JERA's international ventures. These include the successful launch of JERA Global Markets in Singapore, JERA's LNG optimisation and trading platform, as well as the procurement of natural gas and export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Freeport LNG Project in Texas. Mr. Kai served as President of JERA Energy America from 2019 to 2023 and was also appointed as the Head of Freeport LNG Business, Senior Vice President of JERA Americas in 2019, and Chief Strategy Officer in 2021.

In his current role as both the CEO of JERA Asia and Head of the Platform Business Division at JERA Co., Mr. Kai has overall responsibility for leading JERA's downstream fuel and power activities including developing JERA's gas-to-power and low greenhouse gas thermal power businesses across Asia, the Middle East, and North America.

Mr. Kai began his career as a civil engineer at Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and has more than 25 years of business development experience across the US, Australia, Japan and other Asian countries. Mr. Kai holds an MBA in Global Management from Arizona State University's Thunderbird School of Global Management.
