Singapore, Cambodia Ink Memorandum of Understanding for Energy Cooperation

Singapore and Cambodia are set for greater collaboration on cross-border electricity trade. This will include developing and financing renewable energy in Cambodia, developing regional power grids and cross-border grid connections, and frameworks to measure, report and verify renewable energy.

Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, and Suy Sem, Cambodia’s Minister for Mines and Energy, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Energy Cooperation. The signing took place on the sidelines of Singapore International Energy Week 2022 (SIEW) on 26 October.

Singapore will tap on regional power grids to accelerate the development of renewable energy projects and promote economic growth, bringing greater energy security to the region. Singapore plans to import up to 4 gigawatts (GW) of low carbon electricity by 2035, as part of its efforts to decarbonise its power sector.
