The Energy Market Authority of Singapore recently launched the Singapore Energy Statistics 2017. The annual statistical publication provides a broad overview of Singapore’s energy landscape.

Highlights of the report include:

  • Private and grassroot organisations drive solar in Singapore
    • Grid-connected installed capacity of solar PV systems more than quadrupled from 25.5 MWac in 2014 to 104.9 MWac as at end 2Q 2017.
    • By the end of 2Q 2017, there were a total of 1,956 solar PV installations across Singapore. 120 were newly installed in the first half of 2017 alone.
      • Private (262) and grassroot organisations (981) account for 63.5% of all solar PV installations.
  • Singapore’s wholesale electricity price hits record low
    • Measured by the uniform Singapore energy price (USEP) which lists the half-hourly energy price in the Singapore wholesale electricity market. The USEP hit an all-time low in 2016, due to excess generation capacity in the market and declining oil prices.
